A new class of Romanian students has completed its theological studies at the Rome extension of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest. The graduation ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Diocesan Centre of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy.
The ceremony included the graduates’ oath of fidelity to the Romanian Orthodox Church, marking the successful completion of the Bachelor’s programme in Orthodox Pastoral Theology and the Master’s programme in Pastoral Ministry and Liturgical Life.
The solemn occasion was preceded by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, officiated by His Grace Bishop Siluan of Italy.
Bishop Siluan congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to apply their theological knowledge faithfully in their daily lives and ministry.
Representing the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest were Fr Cosmin Pricop, Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty; Fr Gheorghe Holbea, Associate Professor and Vice-Dean for Student Affairs; Fr Aurel Mihai, Assistant Professor; Associate Professor Zaharia Matei; and Deacon George Adrian Șerban.
Dean Cosmin Pricop emphasised the role of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest as a school of the Church and highlighted the spirit of mutual learning shared by lecturers and students at the Rome extension.
The Rome extension of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest was established by decision of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church in 2017.
