Father Caesar Cranta, parish priest of the Micșuneștii Mari community in Ilfov County, has been going door to door alongside members of the Animal Protection Agency, urging residents of Nuci commune to sterilize their dogs and cats.
“As a village priest, I am often the first to witness the struggles of certain people, especially those living on the outskirts,” said Father Cranta.
“People tell me: ‘Father, every week, five stray puppies or three kittens appear in my yard.’ I believe this must change. Animals were created by God to serve humankind, but we should not mistreat them. We, in turn, must show gratitude and respect for them.”
Community Campaign for Free Sterilization
The free sterilization campaign, supported by the Ilfov County Council, will take place in the locality on Tuesday, March 11, and Friday, March 14.
“I welcome this campaign and believe it is beneficial to prevent stray dogs from becoming feral, attacking children, or chasing people at night. We should all be able to live in comfort and safety—both humans and animals,” added Father Caesar Cranta.
On April 4, International Day of Stray Animals, the Directorate for Animal Protection and the County Council are organizing an event in which they aim to sterilize 150 dogs and cats for free.
