The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church resolved to resume the series of International Meetings of Orthodox Youth after a three-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The meeting will be held in Timișoara, the capital of the Metropolis of Banat and the European Capital of Culture in 2023.
The Archdiocese of Timișoara will publish the event’s schedule and participation requirements in the near future.
In 2019, almost four thousand young people from around the world gathered in Craiova for the previous edition.
ITO, the abbreviation for the International Meeting of Orthodox Youth, is an event of unity and joy that fosters inter-Orthodox cooperation. Over three to four days, attendees participate in divine services, leisure activities, seminars, and workshops.
Patriarch Daniel was present at the inauguration of most ITO meetings. “Use the time of your stay in Craiova as a time to cultivate faith, hope and love, to cultivate dialogue, friendship and Orthodox Christian unity, for the glory of the Most Holy Trinity, the benefit of the Church and the joy of all of you,” His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel said at the previous ITO edition.
