Last Friday, Romfilatelia unveiled its latest stamp issue dedicated to the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, titled “Christmas 2024.”
The philatelic collection features two stamps, a perforated souvenir sheet, a “first-day” cover, and a special philatelic folder produced in a limited edition.
The collection’s centrepiece is the stamp on the souvenir sheet, with a nominal value of 33 lei, showcasing a miniature by the Venerable Procopie Pătruț, a 19th-century self-taught Transylvanian missionary and scholar. The artwork vividly depicts the Nativity of Christ when the Magi arrive to pay homage to the newborn Saviour.
Additionally, 64,000 stamps with a nominal value of 4 lei have been issued, featuring a tender portrayal of the Holy Family with the Infant Jesus. Another 3,200 stamps replicate the Nativity scene created by Procopie Pătruț, with a nominal value of 13 lei.
The collection was developed in collaboration with the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual significance of Christmas through the lens of traditional Romanian art.
Romfilatelia’s “Christmas 2024” series is expected to captivate philatelists and art enthusiasts alike, providing a unique way to celebrate the festive season.
