Romanian singer-songwriter offers recipe for success: I believe in God

Andrei Tiberiu Maria, better known by his stage name Smiley, is a Romanian singer and songwriter who hosted Romania’s Got Talent TV show for seven consecutive seasons and was a coach on the panel of The Voice Romania music competition.

In a message posted Sunday on his Facebook account, Smiley wrote about his values and professed his faith in God.

‘I work daily for what I want to achieve… I don’t believe in luck… I believe in talent, work, discipline, focus and a passionate and dedicated team,’ he said.

‘I believe in music made from the heart and with the heart. I believe in passionate people. I believe in God,’ Smiley wrote offering his personal recipe for success.

This is not the first time the artist bears witness to his faith in God. In 2016, during the International Meeting of Orthodox Youth held in Bucharest he urged young people to cherish their spiritual and identity values.

‘Don’t forget what your home is, what your language is, and above all what your faith is,’ singer Andrei Tiberiu Maria said three years ago.

Although quite silent regarding his spiritual life, Smiley went on a trip to the Holy Mount Athos and spent some time at the Romanian Skete of the Honourable Forerunner, where the Prodromitissa Wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God is enshrined.

Smiley is not the only artist in the Romanian showbiz who have publicly confessed their faith in God.

Mihai Neşu, George Ogăraru, Aureliu Surulescu, Ioana Picoş, Vlad Miriţă, Ozana Barabancea are just a few important names in the Romanian society that have spoken openly about their Christian values.
