Romanian Patriarchate launches English-language version of official website

The English-language version of the official website of the Romanian Patriarchate was launched on Thursday at the Aula Magna “Patriarch Teoctist” of the Patriarchal Palace.

The new platform facilitates international access to the life, missionary activity and pastoral work of the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchate.

Church and the contemporary world

Archimandrite Augustin Coman, Patriarchal Adviser and coordinating counsellor of the Department for Christian Relations, Interreligious Affairs and Romanian Communities Abroad, delivered the presentation.

“This is not a purely administrative or technical initiative. It is, in fact, an expression of the openness of the Romanian Orthodox Church towards society, especially in the contemporary world, where communication transcends geographical and cultural boundaries,” the archimandrite said.

Rooted in the life of the Romanian people, the Romanian Orthodox Church has consistently maintained an active openness to dialogue with other Churches, confessions and cultures.

Access to content

The English-language version of the website can be accessed from the Romanian homepage. In the upper-right corner, users can switch between the two languages by selecting the language icon.

Once the English version is selected, the adjacent menu displays all available English sections and categories.

English, recognised as the principal instrument of international communication, offers the Church the opportunity to convey information to audiences beyond Romania’s borders.

Project contributors

“All efforts were carried out with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and under the close supervision of the Chancellery of the Holy Synod,” Archimandrite Augustin Coman said.

From the Chancellery of the Holy Synod, Fr Ionuț Corduneanu, Patriarchal Administrative Vicar, and Archdeacon Alexandru Bordea, Patriarchal Adviser, were involved in the project.

The translation of the new version was completed by Ștefan Francisco Voronca and Liviu Airinei, translators of the Patriarchate’s publishing translation department, with final proofreading undertaken by Archimandrite Augustin Coman.

The project marks a significant step in strengthening the international presence of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
