Photo exhibition inspired by Serbian Orthodox sacred sites opens in Timișoara

The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Timișoara hosted the “Sacred sites of Serbian Orthodoxy in Pilgrimage” exhibition at the diocese headquarters in the city on Sunday, March 5.

The event was attended by Serbian Orthodox Bishop Lukijan of Budapest, the administrator of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Timisoara, Assistant Bishop Paisie of Lugoj, representing the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Timisoara, Vladan Tadic, Consul General of Serbia in Timisoara, Ognean Cristici, president of the Union of Serbs in Romania, and Vladimir Roganović, Secretary of State in the Serbian Ministry of Religion.

The exhibition includes photos of the Serbian monastic settlements on the Holy Mount Athos, the pilgrimage sites in Serbia and the Cusici, Zlatița, Baziaș, St George and Bezdin Monasteries located in Romania.

Assistant Bishop Paisie of Lugoj congratulated Bishop Lukijan, “who has this permanent openness. For at least 17 years, I have been participating in this vernissage of icons, collections of icons from the Serbian Diocese and the territory of Romania. Our presence here signifies love and appreciation for our fraternal ties.”

The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Timișoara serves the counties of Arad, Caraş-Severin, Mehedinţi and Timiş. Its headquarters are in Timișoara’s Unirii Square.
