Representatives of the Orthodox Churches to the European Union met in Brussels on Thursday to discuss how to organise future projects.
The meeting was held at the Ambiorix Orthodox Centre and chaired by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium, Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Fr Sorin Șelaru and Fr George Vâlcu, representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church at the European institutions, attended on behalf of the Romanian Patriarchate. Representatives of the Church of Greece, the Bulgarian Patriarchate and the Ecumenical Patriarchate also took part in the discussions.
Committee members reviewed initiatives currently under preparation in cooperation with other Churches, organisations and European bodies. The next CROCEU meeting is scheduled for 10 November in Brussels.
The Committee of Representatives of Orthodox Churches to the European Union (CROCEU) was established in March 2010 to facilitate cooperation among Orthodox representatives to the European institutions and to provide a framework for the coordinated expression of the concerns and perspectives of the sister Orthodox Churches in the context of European integration.
