Ordinations in Bucharest on the Feast of St Dositheos, Metropolitan of Moldova

Saint Dositheos (Dosoftei), Metropolitan of Moldova, was commemorated Tuesday, 13 December 2016, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Spyridon in Bucharest.

His Grace Timotei of Prahova, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest, celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

In his homily delivered after the gospel reading, Bishop Timotei focused on the life of Saint Dositheos, calling him a missionary scholar and a founder of Romanian language.

Saint Dositheos, he said, remains in the conscience of the Church as a lover of sacred texts, of the Holy Scripture and other useful teachings of the Holy Fathers. He went on saying that Saint Dositheos translated many worship books into Romanian.

During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Timotei performed the ordination of Mr Ionuţ Mavrichi, patriarchal adviser within the Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate, as deacon, on behalf of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Earlier deacon Grigore Marius was ordained a priest for St Demetrius parish in Surani, Prahova County.
