NBR: Numismatic issues dedicated to The History of Gold and The Completion of the Great Union – Ion I. C. Brătianu

The National Bank of Romania (NBR) put into circulation on Tuesday, 3 December 2019,  for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to “The History of Gold – the lei 50 coin bearing the year 1922” and a commemorative collector banknote with the face value of lei 100 to mark the anniversary of “The Completion of the Great Union – Ion I. C. Brătianu”.

The gold coin  characteristics

Obverse: the depiction of the obverse of the Lei 50 gold coin bearing the year 1922, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the face value “10 LEI”, the year of issue “2019” and the coat of arms of Romania.

Reverse: the depiction of the reverse of the Lei 50 gold coin bearing the year 1922 and the inscription “ISTORIA AURULUI MONEDA DE 50 LEI 1922” on two lines.

The banknote characteristics

Obverse: the following representative graphic elements: to the right, in the foreground, the portrait of Ion I.C. Brătianu, and, below, his name and birth and death years, namely “ION I.C. BRĂTIANU 1864-1927”, while in the central part, an image of the Order of Carol I decoration, that Ion I.C. Brătianu received in 1922. In the background, in the central part, an interior image of the Romanian Athenaeum.

The reverse of the banknote features a graphic composition: to the left, a vintage image of the former palace of the Assembly of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, currently the Patriarchate Palace and, in the center, an image of the reverse of the Order of Carol I decoration.
