Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 7 January 2019, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a set of three collector coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac), a silver and a brass collector coin dedicated to Romania’s taking over of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union starting with 1 January 2019.
Obverse of the gold coin: the European Union map as at 1 January 2019, when Romania takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union; the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “100 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2019”.
Obverse of the silver coin: the European Union map as at 1 January 2019, when Romania takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union; the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2019”.
Obverse of the copper-plated tombac coin: the European Union map as at 1 January 2019, when Romania takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union; the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “1 LEU”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2019”.
Obverse of the brass collector coin: the European Union map as at 1 January 2019, when Romania takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union; the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “50 BANI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2019”.
Reverse (common to all coins made of gold, silver, copper-plated tombac and brass): an image depicting the logo for Romania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the inscription “PRESEDINTIA ROMANIEI LA CONSILIUL UNIUNII EUROPENE” in an arc.
The mintage is:
- 250 sets of three coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac);
- 250 silver coins;
- 5,000 brass collector coins.
The selling price are as follows:
- lei 1,965.00, VAT excluded, for the set of three coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac), including the leaflet;
- lei 325.00, VAT excluded, for the silver coin, including the leaflet;
- 00 lei, VAT excluded, for the brass collector coin.
The gold, silver, copper-plated tombac and brass collector coins, dedicated to Romania’s taking over of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union starting with 1 January 2019, are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The gold, silver, copper-plated tombac and brass collector coins dedicated to Romania’s taking over of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union starting with 1 January 2019 will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Timișoara.
