Bishop Ignatie urges clergy to pay attention to frailty of older people

“When we see an older person, let us pray like this: Lord, I entrust to your love the frailty of the one I meet on my way,” Bishop Ignatie told the clergy of Vaslui Deanery at a conference on June 6, 2023.

During the meeting, the Bishop also spoke about the importance of home care programs for the elderly held in the Diocese of Husi.

The meeting was organised in the context of the Solemn Year of the pastoral care of the elderly in the Romanian Patriarchate.

Bishop Ignatie offered Christ as a model to follow in situations of fragility and weakness in human life.

“The one who was the frailest, physically, was Christ Himself on the Cross. He did not tend to defend Himself in the face of the hatred and malice of those who mocked Him. He remained steadfast in his apparent state of fragility in the face of the torrent of malice, and the source of this was love.”

“A very beautiful prayer is recommended to those who experience their own state of weakness. In this prayer, we ask God that all that is frail or that we feel as a weakness be included in His love.”

“Christ remained on the Cross, not criticising anyone for anything, thanks to divine love. Whenever we have moments of fragility and weakness, let us entrust them to the love of God, who gives us extraordinary strength and energy. We have Christ as our model,” His Grace noted.
