On Monday, the Hungarian Ambassador to Romania was welcomed by Metropolitan Ioan of Banat at the Diocesan Center in Timișoara. Among the topics discussed was the transit of refugees from Ukraine, a common concern of Hungary and Romania.
The meeting took place at the request of His Excellency Ambassador Botond Zákonyi, in the context of the good relations between Romania and Hungary.
Metropolitan Ioan reiterated the Church’s concern for helping Ukrainians who have taken refuge in Romania and recalled the efforts of Orthodox dioceses, parishes and monasteries, which provide moral and material support to refugees.
The Metropolitan of Banat thanked the ambassador for the diplomatic effort he made to unblock the transit of Ukrainian migrants at the Romanian-Hungarian border.
