Romanian Patriarch Daniel meets U.S. Presidential Envoy Paolo Zampolli in Bucharest

Romanian Patriarch Daniel met on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, with Ambassador Paolo Zampolli, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for Global Partnerships, during a visit to the Patriarchal Residence in Bucharest.

Patriarch Daniel welcomed Ambassador Zampolli to the Romanian Patriarchate and expressed appreciation for the fact that U.S. President Donald Trump is a protector and promoter of Christian values.

Ambassador Zampolli thanked the Patriarch for his reception and congratulated him on the outstanding pastoral and missionary work of the Romanian Orthodox Church, both in Romania and throughout the diaspora.

He also stressed the importance of global inter-Christian and interreligious dialogue, especially in the current context marked by crises and military conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, which has cost so many lives.

In this regard, the Patriarch recalled the importance of prayers for peace offered at every service in Romanian Orthodox churches, as well as the need to continue providing spiritual and material support for Ukrainian refugees.
