After 15 years of preparation, French octogenarian Françoise Détouche becomes Sister Radegund at Văratic Monastery

Converted to Orthodoxy in 1990, a French octogenarian received the monastic tonsure at Văratic Monastery after fifteen years of preparation.

Under the mantle of the Abbess Iosefina Giosanu, Françoise Détouche received the name of Saint Radegund (+587), a Thuringian princess and Frankish queen, who founded a monastery at Poitiers, who is revered as a Saint by both Catholics and Orthodox.

The ceremony was officiated at the main church of Văratic Monastery by His Grace Assistant Bishop Nichifor of Botoșani on the feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle.

In his speech, Bishop Nichifor compared the monastic habit with an armour fully equipped for the spiritual battle.

Spouses Guy and Francoise Détouche converted to Orthodoxy in 1990. Their constant and consistent relationship with His Eminence Archbishop Ioachim of Roman and Bacău, since the years of his studies at the Saint Serge Institute in Paris, as well as the discovery of the authentic Christian lifestyle made the French couple leave the West behind for a peaceful and serene life near Văratic Monastery.

In 2016, Guy Détouche reposed in the Lord.
