The Coptic Patriarch of Alexandria, His Beatitude Tawadros II, met on Wednesday with the Patriarch of Romania, who wished him a beautiful visit to Bucharest and at the monasteries in the area.
The meeting took place at the Patriarchal Palace. In his address to the Egyptian guests, Patriarch Daniel emphasized the good relations between the two Churches.
Your Beatitude Tawadros II, Coptic Patriarch of Alexandria, distinguished members of the accompanying delegation,
In the light of the Resurrection of Christ, we greet you with great joy: welcome to the Palace of the Romanian Patriarchate, in Europa Christiana Hall!
The relations between the Coptic Church and the Romanian Orthodox Church have intensified, especially through the friendship between Pope and Patriarch Shenouda III of Alexandria and Patriarch Teoctist of Romania, after the year 1990.
Currently, the Romanian Patriarchate organizes, through the BASILICA TRAVEL Agency, pilgrimages with the theme „Christian Egypt”, in which Romanian Orthodox pilgrims are received with respect and joy in the Coptic monasteries and churches of Egypt. Therefore, we thank you very much for this generous attitude.
The Coptic community in Bucharest, led by Father Mina Ataas, has good relations with the Romanian Orthodox parishes, based on mutual respect and practical social cooperation.
We wish you a pleasant visit to Bucharest and to Cernica and Pasărea monasteries, nearby Bucharest, together with the delegation of bishops, priests and lay faithful who are accompanying you to Romania!
After the common photographs taken in this hall, His Eminence Nifon, Archbishop of Târgovişte, Honorary Metropolitan and Patriarchal Exarch, will lead you to the Conventus room, for a dialogue on the life and activity of the Coptic Church today.
