The Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate has recently published the first edition of the Funeral Rites in Ukrainian, which provides a uniform liturgical text for all Ukrainian Orthodox parishes under the Romanian Patriarchate.
The book was compiled with the contributions of Fr. Marius N. Lauruc, a counsellor at the Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate in Romania, and Oxana and Marian Ferțadi.
Printing this liturgical text in Ukrainian “has been a longstanding goal, as there was previously no uniform text for all Ukrainian Orthodox parishes in Romania,” stated the representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate on social media.
The book includes:
- The Order of the Burial for Laypeople,
- The Order of the Burial for Laypeople during Bright Week,
- The Order of the Burial for Children,
- The Order of the Burial for Children during Bright Week,
- The Order of the Burial for Priests,
- The Order of the Burial for Priests during Bright Week,
- The Order of the Memorial Service,
- The Order of the Memorial Service during Bright Week,
- and the Gospels read at the funeral vigils.
The volume was printed with the support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Parish in Sighetu Marmației.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate is an administrative-territorial entity canonically dependent on the Romanian Patriarchate. It is dedicated to Ukrainian Orthodox believers residing in Romania. These believers attend services conducted in their mother tongue by Ukrainian priests or those fluent in Ukrainian.
