The Palestinian Tourism Minister visited the Romanian Patriarchate

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, met on Wednesday, 11 November 2015, the Palestinian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Mrs. Rula Ma’ayah and His Excellency Mr. Fuad Kokaly, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Palestine to Romania.

The Palestinian Minister thanked His Beatitude for the reception and expressed her wish to intensify the cooperation with Romania in the field of tourism, but also with the Romanian Orthodox Church regarding pilgrimages to the Holy Places, such as Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, Nablus, Bethany etc.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed the Palestinian Tourism Minister to Romania and mentioned that some of the Romanian Ruler Princes financially supported many churches from the Holy Places, among which the Nativity Church in Bethlehem. The Romanian Patriarch also expressed the willingness of the Romanian Patriarchate to extend the pilgrimage programs of the Basilica Travel Agency to other religious objectives in Palestine.

In this context, His Beatitude underlined the importance and the usefulness of the Romanian House for Pilgrims in Jericho, where many Romanian pilgrims visiting the Holy Places are hosted each year.

Finally, hope that by mutual respect and practical co-operation peaceful relations in the Holy Land will be cultivated has also been expressed.
