Romania’s former ambassador to Holy See Bogdan Tataru-Cazaban ordained a priest

Romania’s former ambassador to the Holy See, Bogdan Tataru-Cazaban, was ordained a priest during the Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul at Radu Voda Monastery in Bucharest.

The ordination to the priesthood was officiated by the patriarchal auxiliary bishop Varlaam of Ploiesti.

The newly-ordained priest will serve at Bucur the Shepherd Church in Bucharest.

Biography

Bogdan Tătaru-Cazaban was State Counsellor at the Presidency of Romania for four years, and for six years he served as Ambassador of Romania to the Holy See.

Bogdan Tătaru Cazaban was born in 1977 in Focșani and studied philosophy and theology at the University of Bucharest. He followed research internships at the New Europe College and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales / Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris.

He is a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Bucharest, scientific researcher at the Institute of History of Religions of the Romanian Academy, co-founder of the magazine “Chora. Revue d’études anciennes et médiévales: philosophie, théologie, sciences” and member of several academic associations and societies.

Between 2010 and 2016, he was Romania’s ambassador to the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta.

He received the “Pius IX” Grand Cross Order from the Holy See, the “Pro Merito Melitensi” Grand Cross Order (Sovereign Order of Malta), the “Faithful Service” National Order as a Knight and the Order of the Crown of Belgium in the rank of Commander.
