Romanian Patriarch Daniel welcomes Metropolitan Nicholas of Hama at his patriarchal residence

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed Monday His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Hama and surroundings (Antioch Patriarchate) at his patriarchal residence in Bucharest.

Metropolitan Nicholas was accompanied by His Grace Bishop Qais of Erzurum, patriarchal vicar.

During the meeting at the patriarchal residence, the two parts discussed the problems faced by Christians in the Middle East.

Metropolitan Nicholas of Hama is currently visiting Romania at the invitation of Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj to attend the patronal feast of Nicula Monastery on the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.

The Antiochian Metropolitan recalled his attendance at the celebrations of St Parasceva in Iași and pointed to the strong faith of Romanians.

‘This faith is rooted in the heart of the Romanian people,’ His Eminence noted.

His Eminence Nicholas was elected Metropolitan of Hama by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Antioch during its working session on June 7, 2017.

Metr. Nicholas was born in Damascus in 1957. He studied medicine at the University of Damascus.

During 1993-1998 he studied at the Balamand Faculty of Orthodox Theology.

He was ordained to the Episcopate in 2011 by Patriarch Ignatios IV.
