In a congratulatory letter released Wednesday, Grindeanu thanked the Patriarch for his “steadfast commitment and tireless dedication” to strengthening the Church’s role in Romanian society, highlighting its educational, moral and social mission.
The speaker of the lower house of Parliament also emphasised the Patriarch’s efforts to promote dialogue, solidarity and support for vulnerable people, saying his initiatives and responses to contemporary challenges contribute to the common good and social peace while remaining rooted in enduring Christian values.
Grindeanu reaffirmed Parliament’s support for the Romanian Orthodox Church’s mission and praised its cooperation with public institutions, expressing hope that Patriarch Daniel would continue his ministry “for the benefit of the Romanian people, both at home and abroad.”
Your Beatitude,
Allow me, on the occasion of Your Beatitude’s anniversary, to extend my sincerest congratulations, together with my best wishes for health, fulfilment and many years of fruitful ministry in the distinguished mission entrusted to you.
On this festive occasion, I am honoured to renew my profound appreciation for your steadfast commitment and tireless dedication to strengthening the central role and valuable contribution of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the important dimensions of public life.
At a time when we are called to greater openness to dialogue, solidarity and care for those in need, the remarkable initiatives and projects you champion, together with the prompt responses and actions you have promoted with wisdom and vision in the face of today’s challenges and transformations, make a unique contribution to building the common good and social peace around enduring moral and spiritual values.
To these thoughts, I wish to add my sincere appreciation for your partnership and cooperation with the public authorities, which reinforce the Church’s presence both at significant moments and in the everyday realities of our social life, as has been established throughout history.
In this spirit of honouring the past, respecting the solid foundation laid by tradition, assuming full responsibility for the complex demands of the present, and working together to build a better world for both current and future generations, I wish to assure you of our continued support as you carry forward your exemplary ministry for the benefit of the Romanian people, both at home and abroad.
May the Good Lord grant you many blessed years!
With highest consideration,
Sorin-Mihai Grindeanu
