The Romanian Government’s Department for Romanians Abroad has announced that it is preparing to launch the “Support for Romanian-Language Education in Ukraine – 2026” programme, which will provide three forms of financial assistance for pupils, university students and teachers.
Each eligible pupil, student, or teacher will receive 2,000 RON in financial support.
The grants will be available to pupils of Romanian ethnicity enrolled in Romanian-language schools in Ukraine who attended Years 1–4 or Year 10 during the 2025–2026 school year.
Students enrolled in Romanian-language departments or lectureships at universities and teacher-training institutes in Chernivtsi, Izmail and Uzhhorod in the 2025–2026 academic year will also be eligible for grants.
Financial support will also be provided to teachers who teach Romanian or other subjects in Romanian at all levels of Ukraine’s public education system during the 2025–2026 school year.
Applications for grants and financial assistance will be submitted via an online platform that the Department for Romanians Abroad will provide.
