On Wednesday evening, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received the first carolers of the year at the Patriarchal Residence. On this occasion, His Beatitude told the carolers that they are “heralds of God’s merciful love.”
Four groups performed carols:
- The group from “Ion I. C. Brătianu” Secondary School in Bucharest,
- The “Saint Kyriake” Byzantine Choir from the Diocesan Cathedral in Huși,
- The vocal group from Secondary School No. 2 in Fundeni – Ilfov,
- The group of carolers from the Romanian-German Vocational School in Vișeu de Sus – Maramureș.
Heralds of God’s merciful love
His Beatitude praised the depth and interpretation of the selected carols.
Speaking to the carolers from Maramureș, Patriarch Daniel highlighted their role as “heralds of God’s merciful love, revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ.”
“We deeply appreciate that you preserve Romanian and Orthodox Christian traditions in Maramureș, where monasteries and churches have flourished and where a strong, confessional faith endures,“ he added.
Patriarch Daniel also congratulated the students from “Ion I. C. Brătianu” Secondary School in Bucharest.
“You deserve to be congratulated. May you bring joy to your parents and teachers. We wish you happy holidays, with the joy of Baby Jesus in your hearts, and may you share the good news of Christ’s Nativity with other young people like yourselves, proclaiming God the Father’s love for the world, the love of the Heavenly Father.”

The world needs more communion
The Patriarch encouraged the students from Secondary School in Fundeni to share the joy of Christ’s birth wherever needed.
“We congratulate you, wish you happy holidays, and pray for God’s help so you may proclaim the joy of Christ’s Nativity wherever possible. Today’s world needs more encouragement, more communion, and more joy. This joy stems from God’s merciful love, who sent His Son into the world to be born, grow, and save us.”
Each group of carolers received gifts from the Patriarch of Romania.
