Patriarch Daniel meets Israeli Ambassador on farewell visit

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel on Tuesday received His Excellency David Saranga, Ambassador of Israel to Romania, on a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.

During the meeting, which took place at the Patriarchal Residence in Bucharest, the cultural and religious ties between the two countries were appreciated.

The meeting is part of His Excellency’s farewell visits at the end of his mandate as Ambassador of Israel to Romania.

Ambassador David Saranga praised the bonds of friendship between Patriarch Daniel and the Jewish people.

“It is not easy to part from a country I love so much. For me this is the second time I leave Romania, but I will definitely come back. Not as an ambassador, but as a person coming for a visit.”

“Today, I started my farewell meetings with different personalities, and I chose, first of all, to come and say goodbye to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel,” Ambassador Saranga said.

“I thanked him for this friendship that Patriarch Daniel has with the Jewish people and the State of Israel. This relationship is special, and we appreciate this friendship very much,” David Saranga told Radio Trinitas.

In a post on his personal Facebook page, Ambassador David Saranga recalled that he met Patriarch Daniel in Iasi in the 1990s, during his tenure as Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina.

Ambassador David Saranga renewed his invitation to the Patriarch of Romania to visit Jerusalem and the Holy Places in Israel next year.
