Patriarch Daniel to spend 75th birthday in working session on 2026 Youth Gathering

The Romanian Patriarchate has reiterated that the official (institutional) celebration of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel is the anniversary of his enthronement as Patriarch on 30 September, while his birthday, 22 July, and his name days—the Feast of the Holy Prophet Daniel (17 December) and of Saint Daniel the Hesychast (18 December)—are personal celebrations.

This year (2026), His Beatitude will celebrate his birthday on 22 July during a working meeting with members of the Standing Committee of the National Church Council and the Standing Committee of the Eparchial Council of the Archdiocese of Bucharest (who are not on annual leave).

The meeting will take place at the “Familia” Missionary Cultural Centre in Pantelimon and will focus on the current stage of preparations for the International Meeting of Orthodox Youth, scheduled for 31 August to 3 September 2026.

Those wishing to send birthday greetings to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel may deliver their messages in person to the Patriarchal Office at the Patriarchal Residence in Bucharest (2 Patriarhiei Street), or send them by email to [email protected] or by fax to +40 21 406 71 62.
