Orthodox community in Viareggio secures parish complex after a decade of use

The Orthodox community in Viareggio has successfully acquired the parish complex, where it has been active for the past ten years.

Since April, the parish of the Prophet Isaiah received approval for a grant from the Department for Romanians Abroad to fund the purchase of the worship complex it has been using, which meets its pastoral, catechetical, social, and cultural needs.

Father Luigi Pellegrini, representing the Catholic Parish of Santa Rita da Cascia, and Father Andrei-Ioan Vizitiu, representing the Romanian Orthodox Parish of the Prophet Isaiah, signed the sale agreement for the complex. It includes a church, an apartment, and additional facilities.

This place of worship has been entrusted to the Romanian Orthodox community in Viareggio for a decade. It serves as a spiritual hub for over 3,500 Romanians residing temporarily or permanently in the city and surrounding areas.

The Department for Romanians Abroad actively supports the diaspora by providing grants for projects that preserve and promote the ethnic, cultural, religious, and linguistic identity of Romanians abroad while also strengthening connections between Romania and its communities worldwide.
