Maramureș Diocese wants every parish to have a mortuary chapel

“No parish community without a mortuary chapel,” is the title of the new program of the Orthodox Diocese of Maramures and Satmar announced by Bishop Justin during the diocesan assembly on February 6.

This project is linked to this year’s commemorative theme given by the Holy Synod, in an attempt to highlight the liturgical and cultural value of cemeteries.

The Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of Maramures and Satmar met Saturday, February 6, 2021, under the chairmanship of His Grace Bishop Justin and reviewed the activities carried out last year.

Last year activities included the works carried out at the Diocesan Cathedral in Baia Mare and at the Episcopal Palace in Sighetu Marmației, various cultural projects, as well as philanthropic work of over 102,562 EUR (500,000 RON).
