The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church elected Archimandrite Nectarie Clinci, abbot of Sihăstria Putnei Monastery, as Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chișinău on Wednesday evening.
The newly appointed bishop will bear the title “His Grace Bishop Nectarie of Bogdania, Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chișinău.”
With his election, the Metropolis of Bessarabia will now include four hierarchs within its structure.

Monastic and Academic Background
Bishop-elect Nectarie Clinci was born on November 15, 1968, and entered monastic life at Putna Monastery, where he was tonsured a monk on November 20, 1996, by Bishop Gherasim of Putna, Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți.
On October 1, 2000, he was appointed hegumen of Sihăstria Putnei Skete and later elevated to the rank of protosyncellus on March 25, 2002, by Assistant Bishop Calinic of Botoșani.
Since February 20, 2005, he has served as abbot of Sihăstria Putnei Monastery, and on December 31, 2006, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Pitești and a master’s degree from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Sibiu.
Additionally, Archimandrite Nectarie has completed technical studies, earning a degree from the Technical University College in Galați (specializing in naval engineering and equipment) and graduating from Industrial High School No. 5 in Brăila.
Administrative and Ecclesiastical Roles
Since 2020, Father Nectarie has served as Regional Exarch and has been a member of several commissions within the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți.
