HE Archbishop Casian: Prayer in communion transformed Princely Ave into a great Cathedral

The relics of Virginmartyr Saint Philotheia were brought Sunday, 27 November 2016, from Curtea de Argeş to Galaţi by a delegation of the Archdiocese of Argeş and Muscel, led by His Eminence Archbishop Calinic.

His Eminence Casian, Archbishop of Lower Danube, welcomed the relics of the Virginmartyr at the University of Lower Danube, together with over two hundred priests, local administrative, cultural, civil and military personalities, students and numerous pilgrims.

Next, the hierarchs, the clerics and the faithful carried the relics of St Philotheia in procession on Princely Ave towards the Archdiocesan Cathedral. There, a Te Deum service was officiated.

In his homily, Archbishop Casian of Lower Danube pointed out the importance of procession saying that our common prayer transformed the Princely Avenue into a great cathedral. He also called the pilgrims God-lovers or Philotheos.

The relics were sheltered in a baldachin in front of the Archdiocesan Cathedral.

The procession entitled Pilgrims on the way of the Saints opened the pastoral, missionary, cultural, educational and social events that will take place in Galaţi on the feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Protector of Romania.
