Georgian PM visits St Anthimos Monastery in Bucharest

During his stay in Romania, the Prime-minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze visited the monastic settlement founded in Bucharest by Saint Anthimos the Iberian.

The Georgian PM was welcomed at the Monastery by the Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiesti on Monday, April 15, 2019.

After accompanying PM Bakhtadze to the monastery’s main church and museum, Bishop Varlaam noted the good ties between the two peoples, adding that Saint Anthimos is a bridge between Romania and Georgia.

The Prime Minister left flowers at the Memorial of Saint Anthimos in front of the monastery’s gates.

While in Romania, the Georgian Prime Minister also visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where he laid a wreath shortly after his arrival.

It has become a tradition for Georgian officials to visit St Anthimos Monastery while in Romania.
