Dacia Felix Diocese signs cooperation agreement with Alibunar municipality to support Romanian communities in historic Banat

The Diocese of Dacia Felix signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday with the Serbian Municipality of Alibunar, which, according to the diocese, governs the localities with the largest number of Romanians in historic Banat.

The agreement was signed at the Alibunar Town Hall by Bishop Ieronim of Dacia Felix and Mayor Zorana Bratic.

During the discussions, key topics included:

  • Addressing urgent issues of Romanian Orthodox places of worship in the municipality;
  • Construction, renovation, and maintenance of libraries serving Romanian Orthodox communities;
  • Bilateral support for organizing religious events;
  • Assistance for students attending Romanian-language schools in the region.

Bishop Ieronim emphasized the importance of collaboration to achieve these objectives, as well as the need for support to help Romanian communities in historic Banat preserve their national identity and promote their spiritual and cultural values.

Mayor Zorana Bratic expressed gratitude for the bishop’s visit, noting that it was the first time a Romanian bishop had visited Alibunar’s town hall. She also highlighted that the signed protocol opens the door for a fruitful collaboration.

As a token of appreciation for her support of Romanian communities and her efforts as mayor, Bishop Ieronim presented Zorana Bratic with a gramata (official episcopal certificate) recognizing her contributions.
