Consecration of the Brancovean Palace – Archiepiscopal Residence of the Eparchy of Buzau and Vrancea

This Saturday, the holydays of the Archdiocese of Buzau and Vrancea were crowned by the consecration of the Brancovean Palace, the present archiepiscopal residence. The religious service was celebrated by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, together with His Eminence Ciprian, Archbishop of Buzau and Vrancea, and the other hierarchs invited.

His Eminence Archbishop Ciprian delivered a speech in which he thanked those who helped him restore the Brancovean Palace, and the guests for their presence.

“I am grateful to the state authorities too, and I thank my collaborators from the Eparchial Centre, the counsellors, archpriests, my mother who watched over the works in spite of her advanced age, having been a real support, so that we should ennoble this Episcopal residence not for our praise or for that of the Eparchial Centre of Buzau, but for the dignity of the Church and for thanking and bringing homage to the founder of this building which is the pride of the entire city of Buzau. This is why we asked the authorities to help us any time the Archdiocese needs to, because it is the tourist point number 1 of Buzau where pilgrims come as well as tourists wishing to know the main and important purposes of Buzau city”, His Eminence said.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel congratulated all those who supported and sustained the restoration works of the palace founded by the Saint Prince Constantine Brancoveanu.

“The Fathers say that when we receive relics we must receive them with much joy and honour, as if we received Christ, our Lord. Thus, this is the respect for the founder, prince Constantine Brancoveanu, as well as for the guests who come here, hierarchs or laics. When we receive somebody in a beautiful house we honour him/her. Thus, these protocol places are a symbol of hospitality and honour for the guests who are coming. We congratulate you, wish you good health, joy, and especially the joy to receive the guests who help the Church, who appreciate the mission and work of the Church and who confess the faith continuing that of the Brancovean Saints. We congratulate all those present here, and especially the mother of His Eminence Copiran and the collaborators and authorities here present, as well as those who could not be here for various reasons”, His Beatitude said.

To end with, the Patriarch of Romania offered His Eminence Ciprian a plaque of the Brancovean Saints Martyrs and several books appeared at the publishing houses of the Romanian Patriarchate. Engineer Stefan Cliseu, who contributed to the restoration of the Palace has also received an icon of the Brancovean Saints.
