On Monday, His Grace Bishop Sofian of Brașov, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Germany, Austria, and Luxembourg, visited one of the Roua Centers in Bucharest, where pregnant women and large families receive comprehensive support services.
“I did this intending to initiate similar actions in our Archdiocese, creating institutional frameworks through which we can help women facing various difficult situations, particularly those experiencing a pregnancy crisis,” the bishop shared on Facebook.
He announced that the Archdiocese of Germany would implement a similar support program for Romanian women in the diaspora, inspired by the experience of the Association for Supporting Pregnant Women and Families. This organization established the two Roua Centers in Romania’s capital.
“I was glad to witness the faith and dedication underlying this initiative in Romania, and I hope that, with the assistance of Ms Nadane, who brings both experience and the established infrastructure to support us, we can also make a difference in this area,” he added.
Following the visit, Alexandra Nadane, Executive Director of Roua Centers, expressed her appreciation, saying, “I am very pleased with His Grace Bishop Sofian of Brașov’s visit and his desire to develop various forms of support for Romanian women in Germany who face pregnancy crises and other difficult situations.”
“The care for Romanians in the diaspora is evident through the years of work and the united community that has formed around the Romanian Orthodox Church Center in Munich (CBROM),” she added.
“At Roua Centers, we offer free consulting and support to any institution or organization that wishes to develop local programs for women in pregnancy crises and mothers,” Nadane noted.
The Association for Supporting Pregnant Women and Families, which founded the two Roua Centers in Bucharest, often receives calls from women in pregnancy crises living abroad.
Another “Life Support Point” for Romanian women in crisis operates in the diaspora: at the initiative of Metropolitan Joseph of Western and Southern Europe, Godoncourt Monastery in France provides support and shelter for Romanian women in need.
