February 1983 – Priest and theology professor Ioan Petreuță passed away
in Timișoara. Secondary schools studies in Brad and Arad, Faculty of
Theology in Cernăuți (1924 – 1928), doctorate in 1930; graduate of the
Law Faculty of the University of Cernăuți (1932), specialization both at
the Faculties of Orthodox Theology in Athens (1928 – 1929) and at the
Roman Catholic one in Vienna (1929 – 1930). Father confessor at the
Theological Academy of Arad; Dogmatics and Apologetics professor at the
Theological Academy in Oradea (1934 – 1948), rector of the Academy (1945
– 1948); Dogmatics professor at the University Theological Institute of
Sibiu (1948 – 1952); priest of the Cathedral in Timișoara (1952 –
1965), cultural counselor at the Archdiocese of Timișoara (1965 – 1974),
hon. archpriest (1943), iconomos stavroforos (1963). He published books
like “Private Judgment” (1935), “Prayer for the dead” (1937), “After
life in the Romanian Carols” (1939), “Anatema” (1941).
