April 1875 – Historian priest GHEORGHE CIUHANDU was born in Rosia,
county of Bihor. Gymnasium studies in Beius, theological studies in
Arad, then at the Faculty of Theology of Cernauti, where he was awarded
the doctor’s degree (1905). Cultural counsellor at the Diocese of Arad
(1905 – 1938), president of the Orthodox Clergy Association of “Andrei
Saguna” of Transylvania (1922), member of honour of the Romanian Academy
(30 May 1946). Concerned with the history of the church and cultural
life in Arad and neighbourhood, with the Greek-Catholics’ proselyte
activity in the area. He passed away on 29 April 1947, in Vata de Jos,
county of Hunedoara (buried in Arad).
