22 April 1965 – PETRE ANTONESCU – Romanian architect, professor,

restorer of monuments – passed away in Bucharest. He was bon on 29 June

1873, in Ramnicu Sarat. Remarkable personality of the Romanian modern

architecture, promoter of the neo-Romanian style. Studies at the School

of Fine Arts of Paris (1893 – 1899), professor at the Architecture

School of Bucharest, member of the Commission of Historical Monuments,

member of the Romanian Academy (1944). Author of the cathedral project

of Galati (1906 – 1917), together with Stefan Burcus. Restorer of

several churches, monuments of architecture.
