March 1992 – Priest JECHIU IGOR passed away in Galați city (born on 19
October 1918, in Mârzești, county of Orhei). He studied at the
Theological Seminary of Chișinău (1931 – 1939) and at the Faculty of
Theology of Cernăuți (1939 – 1943); courses for a doctor’s degree at the
same Faculty (1947 – 1949), given up later on. Professor at the
Theological Seminary of Chișinău (1943 – 1944), editor of the
“Luminatorul” magazine (1943 – 1944), priest to the parishes: Ceaga-
Tighina (1943-1944), Zlatița, county of Caraș Severin (1944-1947),
cathedral of Caransebeș (1947-1951), Ivești, county of Galați
(1952-1974), St. Pantelimon of Galați city (1974-1986), cultural
counsellor to the Archdiocese of Tomis and Lower Danube (1978-1985).
