Take a virtual tour of Beirut Orthodox Cathedral and help its renovation. See how it looked before the explosion

The VR Pilgrim application offers a virtual tour of places of worship from Lebanon, among which the “St. Nicholas” Cathedral in Beirut, one of the most affected buildings by the blast on August 4.

In June, VR360 Treasures company launched the application VR Pilgrim, which allows users to take virtual tours of Christian churches across the world. A year before, the team had visited Lebanon to film its churches and monasteries in order to include them in their app.

After the explosion on August 4, Georgios Tsatsanidis, VR360 Treasures Director, sent condolences to the Lebanese people:

“I can’t even begin to describe the feeling when I see photos and videos sent by Lebanese friends. A year ago we were in Lebanon and were fascinated by the beauty and hospitality of this country. With sadness and pain, I look at what is left of Beirut now.”

Half of the city is in ruins after the accidental blast in the port of Beirut. More churches from Achrafieh, one of the oldest Christian neighbourhoods, were damaged. Among them, the Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Nicholas, whose virtual tour is now available in the VR Pilgrim app.

“According to legend, Beirut had been reborn seven times from the ashes, which made it a city-phoenix. I am sure that this time the city will be able to rise from the ashes again and become even more beautiful”, added the Director of VR360 Treasures.

Part of the money obtained from the subscriptions to the application will be donated for the reconstruction of the churches. VR Pilgrim is available in the Google Play and App Store virtual shops.
