Professors, priests, and theology students planted 2,000 acacia saplings on Saturday near the village of Iecea Mică in Timiș County, as part of an environmental initiative combining ecological action and community engagement.
The event was organised by the Research and Innovation Department of the West University of Timișoara and drew students from several faculties, including the Faculty of Theology.
They were joined by Fr Marius Florescu, Fr Cristian Gheorghiță Popa of Cărpiniș Parish and Fr Alin Ibănescu of Iecea Mică Parish.
The new plantation is intended to serve as a protective barrier against wind and dust blowing into the village from surrounding fields.
The event concluded with a blessing service for orchards and the sprinkling of the acacia saplings with holy water.
