His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel on Thursday officiated a Te Deum service at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest marking the 160th anniversary of the Union of the Romanian Principalities.
Following the service, the Romanian Patriarch, the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, the president of the Romanian Academy, clergy and state officials laid wreaths at Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza’s memorial, as a homage to the founder of the 1859 Union of Moldavia and Wallachia.
