Suceava Archdiocese collects toys for Ukrainian children: refugee support continues (PHOTOS)

Actions supporting Ukrainian refugees continued this weekend in the Archdiocese of Suceava and Radauti. Particular attention is paid to the collection of toys for the many Ukrainian children who cross the border accompanied by their parents. In addition, several volunteers take care to bring a smile to the children’s faces.

Food and water were provided, routing to accommodation and providing information on travel in Romania.

His Eminence Archbishop Calinic of Suceava and Radauti repeatedly visited the Siret border crossing, where he spoke with the volunteers and made sure that the support actions went well.

The Archdiocese provided Ukrainian-speaking volunteers, and throughout the night from Friday to Saturday, the archdiocese representatives were at the Siret Customs and the Burdujeni-Suceava Railway Station.

Clerics and volunteers transported Ukrainian citizens to the accommodation centres in Radauti and Suceava.

Based on the principle of working Christian love, shown through sacrifice towards the neighbour, the volunteers of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Radauti, members of the Association of Romanian Christian-Orthodox Students (ASCOR) and the Association of Young Orthodox Suceava (ATOS), as well as clergy and parishioners Siret Customs are involved in the distribution of the collected products.

The Archdiocese thanked the authorities for their involvement and announced that it has received numerous messages from Christians from Romania and abroad announcing their intention to provide accommodation and send objects of necessity.

Several dioceses within the Romanian Patriarchate have responded to the call of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel to join the philanthropic efforts at Siret Customs.

An intervention committee was set up in the Archdiocese of Suceava and Radauti, consisting of the clergy of the Archdiocesan Centre, including deans, exarchs and volunteer coordinators.

They identify the most effective support measures for Ukrainian citizens in transit or intending to remain in Romania.
