„Saint John the Wallachian” Celebrated by the Christian Orthodox Youth League, District 2 Branch

District 2 branch of the Christian Orthodox Youth League celebrated its saint patron Saint John the Wallachian. This is the second celebration of the saint patron by the League after the solemn first one in 2015, celebrated with the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

“Last year the dedication day was celebrated at Popa Rusu parish, which has a large community of young people, but this year the Christian Orthodox Youth League of district 2 celebrated the saint patron in the parish of Saints Archangels – Gherghiceanu”, Rev. Fr. Ciprian Georgian Tudor – president of the Christian Orthodox Youth League of district 2 informs.

This year, the programme was held according to the following timetable: Matins continued with the Akathist of Saint John the Wallachian and the Divine Liturgy celebrated by a group of priests and deacons of district 2 deanery, headed by archpriest Ion Popescu.

“This year too we benefited from the presence of several young people who have come to celebrate Saint John the Wallachian, and of a group of more than 18 priests of the district 2 deanery, League representatives inform.

The Archpriest delivered a sermon in which he emphasised the virtues of Saint John the Wallachian and his devotion to Christ until martyrdom.

In the end, Rev. Fr. Ciprian Georgian Tudor – president of the Christian Orthodox Youth League of district 2 – thanked the young people present in large number, the celebrant priests, the host of the event, namely the parish of Saints Archangels, the parish priest Laurenţiu Floria, and archpriest Ion Popescu who is always near the young members of the Christian Orthodox Youth League of district 2 branch.
