A particle of the relics of Saint Jacob of Putna, Metropolitan of Moldavia, will be brought for veneration for the first time in Denmark, in Copenhagen, between November 22-24.
The delegation from Putna Monastery will be led by Archimandrite Melchisedec Velnic, the monastery’s abbot, and the holy relic will be received on Saturday at 19:00 by Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe, together with an assembly of clergy.
The reliquary containing the hand of Saint Jacob of Putna will be placed for veneration in the Diocesan Chapel of the Copenhagen parish until Monday morning.
The programme will include the Divine Liturgy, followed by a Vigil Service in honour of the saint.
Saint Jacob of Putna (1719–1778), a great bishop, founder, defender of the poor and enlightener of Moldavia, is one of the great saints of Romanian monasticism, considered “the second founder of Putna”.
