Romanian, Serbian Bishops set to promote fraternal cooperation

His Grace Bishop Ieronim of Dacia Felix met with His Grace Bishop Nikanor of Banat (Serbian Patriarchate). The two hierarchs expressed their willingness to deepen fraternal cooperation and announced that they remain permanently open to dialogue.

The meeting took place on August 24 and was the first encounter between the new Romanian Bishop of Dacia Felix and the Serbian Bishop Nikanor.

The Romanian delegation also included Father Emanuel Tapalagă, Vicar of Vojvodina, and Archimandrite Macarie, Ecclesiarch of the Romanian Diocesan Cathedral in Vrsac.

The bishops engaged in a friendly 90-minute discussion about modern issues and the complicated problems that their respective Orthodox Churches are currently facing.

“Both hierarchs expressed a wish for friendly interactions and constructive, brotherly cooperation amongst churches in all endeavours. In this regard, they affirmed their readiness to overcome any differences through the wise consideration of the higher ecclesiastical forums, affirming the eagerness for a new period in our ecclesiastical history, as there are no problems without solutions,” the Diocese of Dacia Felix posted on Facebook.

His Grace Bishop Ieronim was elected by the Holy Synod to the dignity of Bishop of Dacia Felix on July 5, 2022.
