Romanian Patriarchate envoy meets Jerusalem Patriarch, presents Centennial distinction

The Very Rev. Archimandrite Ioan Meiu, Representative of the Romanian Patriarchate to the Holy Places and Superior of the Romanian Orthodox establishments in Jerusalem, Jericho, and the Jordan Valley, met late last year with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem.

On behalf of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, the archimandrite presented Patriarch Theophilos with a distinction marking the Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate.

“Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem felt honoured and expressed his gratitude to the Patriarch of Romania. He also congratulated him on the construction of the Cathedral in Bucharest, a symbol of national integrity,” the Representative of the Romanian Patriarchate to the Holy Places said.

The consecration of the mosaic iconography of the National Cathedral and the general proclamation of the canonisation of 16 venerable and confessor saints of the twentieth century were the main events through which the Romanian Orthodox Church marked last year the centenary of its elevation to the rank of Patriarchate.
