Romanian Orthodox Parish in Sydney to build St. Callinicus Cultural and Missionary Centre

The Parish Council of the Romanian Orthodox Parish “Saint Mary” in Sydney has decided to begin construction on the Cultural, Missionary, and Social Centre “Saint Callinicus of Cernica” in Sydney, Australia.

The announcement was made on Saturday during a parish meeting attended by Bishop Mihail of Australia and New Zealand.

His Grace was briefed on the progress related to the construction project and gave his blessing for the works to commence under the supervision of Father Valeriu Botezatu.

The Romanian Orthodox Parish “Saint Mary” in Sydney was founded on March 18, 1973, by Romanian compatriots who had sought refuge in New South Wales.

That same year, the parish was officially recognised by the state and accepted under the canonical jurisdiction of the Romanian Patriarchate. The current parish church was built starting in 1982.
