A new community and cultural centre will be established for Romanians living in the towns of Tortosa and Gandesa in southern Catalonia, Spain, according to a press release.
The project, entitled Light for the Soul – The Orthodox Church, the Home of Romanians in the Diaspora, has been implemented by the Parish of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Gandesa with the support of the Department for Romanians Everywhere.
The initiative aims to strengthen the religious, cultural and educational life of the Romanian communities in the two Spanish towns and the surrounding area.
The new centre will function as a multi-purpose facility, hosting catechetical programmes, Romanian language classes, cultural events and social activities for Romanians living in the diaspora.
Representatives of the parish explained that the new centre will provide the community with a stable and representative setting for its spiritual life and for fostering stronger bonds among Romanians living far from their homeland.
Through this initiative, the project seeks to preserve and promote the ethnic, cultural, religious and linguistic identity of Romanians settled in Spain, while strengthening the presence and mission of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the diaspora.
