Eight years after being acquired by the Romanian Orthodox community, the Church of Saint Anthimos the Iberian in Auvers-sur-Oise, a commune 30 km from Paris, is undergoing extensive restoration.
Currently, restoration efforts focus on the interior frescoes and the renovation of the courtyard.
Ongoing Restoration Efforts
Shortly after its acquisition, the church was adapted to Orthodox worship, with an iconostasis and religious icons installed on its walls.
The frescoes inside the Holy Altar are nearing completion, with most of the upper section finished. Meanwhile, the courtyard renovation is in its final stages, following the reconstruction of the perimeter wall and the cobblestone paving over the last two months.
Future restoration plans include:
- Landscaping with trees,
- Renovation of the church façade,
- Final aesthetic improvements.
The total cost is estimated at €70,000–€80,000.
