Artist reveals first look at reliquary for Saint Cleopas’ relics, honouring Romanian monastic spirituality

Iconographer and church artist Ana-Maria Zară has shared for the first time details of the reliquary being crafted to hold the holy relics of Saint Cleopas (Ilie) of Sihăstria.

“In lines of silver, the memories of his spiritual steps through Romanian monastic spirituality will be engraved,” the artist wrote.

“Each scene seeks to echo the gentle voice that once resounded firmly among the ancient oaks of Moldavia’s forests.”

“The hand-engraved details, created by the dedicated nuns of the Patriarchate’s Workshops at Pasărea Monastery, will transform these artistic attempts into a lasting testimony of the Light that shines through the humility and unwavering faith of the great spiritual father,” Ana-Maria Zară added.

Last year, the artist also presented the reliquary designed for Saint Paisius (Olaru) of Sihăstria, as well as the project for the reliquary of the Holy Priest-Confessor Dumitru Stăniloae.

These reliquaries are being created at the Romanian Patriarchate’s Workshops at Pasărea Monastery, Ilfov County, in the context of the canonization of 16 confessor priests and monastics of the 20th century.
