Patriarch Daniel sends condolences for loss of National Cathedral great engineer Constantin Pavel

Patriarch Daniel expressed his deep sorrow for the loss of Professor Constantin Pavel, ‘the great construction engineer of the National Cathedral.’

Professor Constantin Pavel reposed in the Lord on June 25 at the age of 84.

Patriarch Daniel said he was ‘a creative spirit’ with ‘innovative ingenuity and scientific rigor,’ being one of the best construction specialists of the new Orthodox Cathedral in Bucharest, a project Pavel liked to call ‘the crowning of his entire activity, designed to last at least 500 years.’

In his message, the Patriarch of Romania praised the ‘scientist who dedicated himself with all his intellectual dowry to the Romanian society and who trained many generations of specialists in the important field of constructions.’

‘We express deep gratitude to the memory of Professor Constantin Pavel for his professionalism and dedication in the realization of the project of the National Cathedral, being mentioned among its founders and builders.’

‘We pray to the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the Resurrection and Life (John 11:25), to rest the soul of His servant, Constantin, together with the righteous, in the light, peace and love of the Most Holy Trinity, to comfort the grieving family and all who, today, are saddened by the departure from us of the distinguished university professor Constantin Pavel.’
